Charles A Curley Jr.
August 13th, 1935 - February 7th, 2021
Charles “Chuck” Curley, Jr. of Melbourne, FL, beloved husband of Caroline (Bachmann) Curley, passed away peacefully on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, 2021. Chuck was born on August 13th, 1935, in Gloucester, MA to the late Charles “Mickey” and Mary Curley. Chuck married Caroline, the love of his life, on May 16, 1954, and together had five children. Chuck was predeceased by his daughter Caryn Curley, and his sister Kate Orlando. Chuck will be sadly missed by his children Charles “Mickey” Curley III (Ellen), Cheri Abruzzini (Cornell), Christyne Velez (Bill), and Craig Curley (Cathy), his brother John Curley, and his eight grandchildren (Alyssa Ognibene, Will Velez, Sarah Abruzzini, Michael Curley, Clay Curley, Jessie Velez, Connor Curley, and Ryan Velez). Chuck served in the U.S. Air Force in the late 1950’s which took him to Texas, Japan, and Washington D.C. Following his service, Chuck began a successful career with Raytheon which took him to Marlborough, MA, and Stamford, CT. Chuck and Caroline retired to Melbourne, FL in 1996 and were long-time members of Baytree National Golf Club. Chuck was a devoted husband, a loving Dad and Papa, an avid golfer, a great dancer, a wicked card player, a pool shark, a gadget lover, a savvy businessman, and a passionate football fan. Chuck attended numerous Super Bowls over the years and it was no surprise to his family that he chose to leave us in time to attend this year’s Super Bowl from the skyboxes. His was a life well lived and he leaves a legacy to be proud of. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, February 12th at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, in Rockledge, FL. For those attending, face masks will be required. To avoid travel, the service will be livestreamed.
