John Masse

On Friday, August 13, 2021 John Frederick Masse passed into the loving arms of our Savior. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. John was 59 years old when he passed. John was born on September 21, 1961 at Travis Air Force Base to Richard and Setsuko Masse. He graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at Brevard Community College in 1982. He was a Law Enforcement Officer with Indialantic Police Department, Indian Harbour Police Department and in 1986 began his carrier with Palm Bay Police Department. It was with the Palm Bay Police Department where John aspired to excel in every area he possibly could. He was on Palm Bay’s Emergency Response Team (SWAT), Traffic Division (Motor Unit), Traffic Homicide Investigator and Drug Unit. While employed at Palm Bay he was assigned to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department Helicopter Unit as a Tactical Flight Officer (Observer). He was awarded several accommodations and accolades for his service with the Helicopter Unit, this was his greatest love during the last ten years of his employment. He retired from the City of Palm Bay in 2010 and was employed for a brief time with Brevard County Sheriff’s Department Court Services. John loved his wife, Roberta, and daughter, Rachel with a love that can not be described adequately in words, because it was so close to the Agape Love of our Savior. He leaves behind his legacy in his grandson, Trent who melted his heart every time he said G-da. John was also close to and shared many good times with his brother, Jay. John’s father, Richard lives in Indian Harbor Beach and considered John his right hand man. John was a true hero in service to the citizens he protected and in his seventeen year battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
