Sheila "Dee" Garrick

Sheila “Dee” Rose (Sites) Garrick, 89, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She is now forever reunited with many loved ones, including two of her three cherished children, Joseph Lincoln and Lee Ann Garrick; husband, James Edward Garrick; mother and father, Olivia Elizabeth and Joseph Edward Sites; sisters, Olivia Sites and Patricia (Sites) Niswander; and brothers, Michael, Joseph & James Sites. Sheila will always be remembered for her kind, gentle, and curious nature, which captivated everyone she encountered. She took a genuine interest in everyone and everything—she truly loved learning—and could hold a conversation with anyone about anything. She had a lifelong love of all types of music, was always reading a book, and enjoyed completing daily word puzzles. She also loved keeping up with a variety of sports and had a guilty pleasure fascination with several reality TV shows. The love she had for her family and friends knew no bounds. She was incredibly special and will be deeply missed by those left behind. She wanted us to “remember the good times we had—all the laughter and love!” She is survived by her daughter, Susan Martin (David); granddaughters, Rachel Sboto (Sean), Lauren Garrick-Keyes, and Jeri Martin; grandson, Evan Martin; great-grandson, Lincoln Sboto; her sister, Diana (Sites) Alt; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished. A private celebration of life will be held this summer in Sheila’s hometown of Upper Tract, West Virginia. “Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain Mama Take me home, country roads.”
