Jewell Edwards Grizzle

Gate City – Jewell Edwards Grizzle, 92 of Gate City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 20, 2018, following a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Scott County. She was of the Baptist faith. Jewell graduated as Salutatorian from her 1942 Rye Cove High School class. She also Graduated from Whitney Business College in Kingsport, TN. She was employed by the Blossom Shop, W.T. Grant's Store, Secretary for the Republican Party under Mr. Jimmy Penley, Tennessee Eastman Company, and VPI Virginia Extension Office reporting to Mr. J. E. Delp. The majority of Jewell's life was spent as a loving housewife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Grizzle; parents, John and Lelia Horton Edwards; brothers, Troy and Donnie Edwards; sister, Opal Musick. Jewell is survived by her daughters, Deborah Pendleton and husband Paul, Regina Starnes and husband Zane and Teresa Adams; grandchildren, Aaron Hammond and wife Julia, Brittany Cole and husband Cody and Jarrod Adams and wife Katie; great-granddaughter, Sophia Cole; nephew, Raymond Musick and wife Pauline. Special thanks for the excellent home care Jewell received from her loving caregivers, Christal Salling. Georgia Carter, Faye Darnell, Sandy Edwards, Jenny Estepp, Sharon Babb and the staff of Nova Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Scott Fields officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Raymond Musick will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Grizzle family.
