Robert "Bob" J. Perry

Robert J. “Bob” Perry, age 80, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his home. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gate City, where he served in the video department for many years. He was a retiree of Holston Defense Corporation with 35 years of service in both explosive processing and the employment training departments. Following retirement he worked with BAE Systems for a number of years and also for the Scott County Convenience Center. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hershel and Sarah Alice Perry; 2 sisters, Mary Edith Waller and Mildred Evelyn Chapman; and brother, Johnny Paul Perry. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Sampson Perry; daughter, Kimberly Jo Jenkins (Stan); son, Robert M. “Robbie” Perry (Sherry); 3 grandchildren, Ashley Jenkins Sandhu (Navneet), Robert Payton Jenkins (Tia) and Rindi Michael Perry; 3 great-grandchildren, Robert Scott “Bo” Jenkins, Benjamin Charles Jenkins and Camilla Aaj Sandhu; an expected great-granddaughter in February 2019; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Andy Barnes and Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Special music will be provided by Ashley Sandhu and Joel Jenkins. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at Scott County Funeral Home by 10:15 am.
