July 9th, 1936 - January 24th, 2020
Weber City – Alice Fern Casteel Shelton, 83 of Weber City, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Scott County. Fern was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She loved flowers and gardening and was kind to animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cossie and Grace Casteel; son, Randall Quillen; sisters, Nina, Faye and Midge; brother, Mack; first husband, Utah Quillen. Fern is survived by her husband of 25 years, Danny Shelton; daughters, Charlene McGough and husband Bob, Eileen Cullop and husband Ernie and Jennifer Ramey and husband Michael; son, Ernie Quillen; grandchildren, Leslie Rocco and husband Mark, Brandon Horne, Jason Horne, James Horne, Justin Quillen, Isaiah Ramey and Rachel Ramey; great-grandchildren, Marissa Kilbourne and Henry Horne; sisters, Gertrude Smith and Mary Haynes; brother, Truman Casteel. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Elder Aaron Scott officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at Holston Valley Medical Center and a very special thanks to her niece, Kaye Blanton. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Shelton family.
