Verdie Ann Oris

Verdie Ann (Arnold) Oris, 65, of the Yuma Community in Gate City, VA, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at her home. She was born on February 5, 1958 in Baltimore, MD. Verdie enjoyed working in her garden and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed. Verdie was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert Smith Arnold and Hazel Ann (Price) Arnold; grandson, Toby Otte; sister, Elizabeth Reed; brother, Hobert Gene Arnold. Surviving are her husband, Joe Oris; children, Melvin Otte, Sonny Otte, Melissa Otte and Beth Otte; grandchildren, Madlyn, Nadlyn, Zach, Tyler, Mackenzie, Kimberly, Dalton, Samantha, Lexi, Lori, Timmy, Kaylee, Justina and John; brother, Ronald Lee Arnold; niece, Sandy Begley; nephew, Robert Reed; great-nieces, Eva and Harleigh Begley; special friend, Don Neff. Verdie will be laid to rest in the Bellamy Cemetery, Stanley Valley Rd., Gate City, VA with Pastor Danny Sykes and Pete Barbour officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
