August 15th, 1941 - February 26th, 2024
Donald Wayne Martin, age 82 of Church Hill, TN went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2024 after an extended illness. Don was born on August 15, 1941 to the late Paul and Trula Martin. He was a 1960 graduate of Gate City High School, where he excelled at baseball. Following graduation he spent several years working in manufacturing and insurance. He then found the career he loved in construction, and remained in this field for the remainder of his working years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed golf, fishing, watching various sports, and numerous hobbies. He loved his family, and loved nothing more than family gatherings. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother-in-law John Earl Jones. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Brenda; sister, Evelyn Jones; daughters, Gina Salyer (Preston), Tamera Holliman (Sam), Kristi Peters; his grandchildren, Traci Smith (Colbey), Cory Godsey (Stefani), Chase Vicars (Bailey), Chelsea Peters; three great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is serving the family.
