John Charles Meyer

Dr. John Charles Meyer DVM of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Thursday evening June 22nd in his home. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elinor Meyer; his loving daughter, Kimberly Meyer; son, Gregory Meyer and wife Alison and their children, Grace and William; preceded by his son, Carlton Meyer and survived by Daughter-in-Law, Kelly Meyer and their children, Mackenzie and Kendall; son, Bradley Meyer and wife, Leslie and their children, Ty, Avery and Reagan Plate; Sister-in-Law Marcia, Laundy of Silver Spring, Maryland; Sister in Law, Adele Meyer of Freeport NY; Niece, Dawn Meyer and partner, George Dunning; Nephew, Vernon Meyer and wife, Mandy of Massapequa, NY and their children, Mason and Ayla. John is preceded by his loving parents Heinz and Anna Meyer; Brother, Vernon Meyer and Brother-in-Law, Roger Laundy. John was a graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1959. After which he served two years as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He then devoted his life to his family and career. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was known for his compassion for animals and nature. He will most certainly be remembered for his warm smile and willingness to listen and lend comfort to both his clients and their companions at Marymont Animal Hospital. The viewing will be held on Friday June 30, 2017 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Ashton United Methodist Church on 17314 New Hampshire Avenue, Ashton, MD 20861. The service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 1 pm at Ashton United Methodist Church. John loved listening to classical music, watching public television and visiting beautiful gardens.
