After a long battle, Eric Phillip Lopez, 52, of Denver, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born July 23, 1970, in Denver, Colorado, to John and Della (Rodriguez) Lopez and passed away December 20, 2022, in Denver, Colorado Eric graduated in 1988 from Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver, Colorado. After high school, he immediately enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly. Eric excelled academically, was an exceptional soldier and a true leader. He was in the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 508th parachute Infantry, and the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry. Eric received various medals, ribbons, badges, and awards for his outstanding performance and duty to our country. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Eric worked in various administrative positions and served in various ministries. Eric was a man of faith, trusting alone in Jesus Christ for his salvation. He was passionate about God, dividing the scriptures and sharing the amazing knowledge, understanding, and wisdom he had learned about the Bible. Eric had many friends, family members, pastors, and teachers who loved him, encouraged, and supported him on his faith journey. He loved his children and yearned to be closer to them all. Eric was humble and contrite, generous, compassionate, kind, well-spoken,and loved to help and serve others. He had many gifts and talents and was a prolific writer. Eric loved making warm meals for his family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone loved his famous spaghetti. He had a great sense of humor, and his laugh was contagious. He will be greatly missed. Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Della Lopez 2022; his brother, Albert 'Abbot' Mares 1986; and his sister Franky "Elisa" Mares. He is survived by his father, John P. Lopez; his brother, Jonathan Lopez; his sisters, Janel and Charity Lopez; his son, Eric Lopez Jr.; his former wife, Sarah, and their child Izaak Lopez; his son, Brandon Vigil; his former wife Angel and their children, Izrael and Jenesis Lopez; all of Denver Colorado; many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, loved ones and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, at 11 A.M. at Redemption Hills Church in Littleton, Colorado. Following the service, there will be a memorial with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:15 P.M. A reception will be held following the memorial service at Westside Church Int.,3440 W. Louisiana Ave., Denver, CO 80219
