October 12th, 1934 - December 1st, 2023
Vitor Mendez, 89, passed away peacefully at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, on Friday, December 1, 2023 surrounded with lots of love from his family. Vitor was born in Chantada, Lugo (Spain) and moved to this country in 1971. He was the son of the late Francisco Mendez and Amadora Arias. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Luisa Mendez, daughters Maria Carmen and Maria Isabel, his sons-in-law Guillermo Lopez and Marcos Santillan, his grandchildren Daniel, David, Sarah, Natalia, Miranda and his great-grandchildren Guy Guillermo and Daniel Santiago, sibling Francisco and sister-in-law Candida, brother-in-law Antonio Graña and sister-in-law Maria Carmen Gonzalez, nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his siblings Manuel, Jose, Otilia and Carmen. Vitor loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 15th at 11:00 am at the St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church, 2665 Woodley Road NW, Washington, DC 20008, with a small reception to immediately follow. Only street parking is available.
