Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Lambeth Chapel
Donald "Donnie" Gray Doss, Sr.
September 9th, 1937 - August 28th, 2019
Donald “Donnie” Gray Doss, Sr., 81, died August 28, 2019. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 1:00PM Saturday August 31, 2019 at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Barrett officiating. Interment will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends at the church Friday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. A native of Yadkin County, Donnie was the son of the late Dolly Cleo Chamberlain and William Paul Doss. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Jean Doss, Ann Fulk, Billy Doss, Buster Doss, and Teddy Doss. Donnie was the owner/operator of Donnie Doss Garage until he retired. Survivors include his loving wife, Cynthia Elliott Doss; son, Donnie “Toby” Doss, Jr. and Susan; daughters, Kim Wyrick and Billy, Gail Saunders and Butch, and Kaye Ball and Mark; grandchildren, Kenneth, Patricia (James), Jessica (Chad), Toby (Sarah), William (Jessica), Ivey, Michelle (Torie), Camden (Sara), and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Penelope, Jazlyn, Karsyn, McKenna, Drayton, Tanner, Emerie, and one on the way!; sister, Linda Hanson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Donnie broke several track records in pro stock drag racing, and his ability to drive a car was absolutely amazing. Donnie’s luck wasn’t only on the track, he was lucky enough to win the Virginia lottery in 1994. Donnie never met a stranger and everyone that met him loved him. His smile was contagious. To this day when you mention Donnie Doss the first words out of their mouth are “he can drive like hell”. Cynthia “Shug” as he called her was the love of his life and was his world. His love for his kids was endless and loved them beyond words. Donnie’s grandkids and great grandkids were his pride and joy. He loved nothing more than pulling out his wallet and showing off his pictures of the grandkids. Donnie loved nothing more than taking a drive in his truck listening to Conway Twitty as he was going after his lottery ticket. He will be missed beyond words and life will not be the same without him. Friends and family may sign, and view the guestbook at www.LambethTroxlerFuneralHome.com In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice at Greensboro or the American Cancer Society.
