Henrietta Raynor Parrish
September 7th, 1921 - July 11th, 2020
Mrs. Henrietta Raynor Parrish, 98, formerly of Greensboro, NC, died Saturday, July 11, 2020 at The Laurels Assisted Living of Highland Creek, in Charlotte, NC. A private graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mrs. Parrish was born in Castle Hayne, NC on September 7, 1921 to James Riley and Sally Henrietta (Osborne) Parrish. She retired from Bell South in Greensboro after a dedicated 31 years. A long-time member of Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church, she served in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women, a trustee, a communion steward, and a Chairwoman of the parsonage committee and pastor relations. She was also a life-time member of the Telephone Pioneers Chapter 35 organization. Henrietta leaves her legacy at The Laurels as the “Rummikub Queen” where she shared her love for the game by teaching all the residents how to play. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter W. Parrish Jr. whom she was blessed with 69 years of marriage and many wonderful memories. She leaves behind her daughter; Janet Caskey and husband Lynn; son, Mark Parrish and wife Marty; 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Leah, Dustin, Darden, and Andy; and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it was Henrietta’s wishes that donations in her memory be made to any of the following organizations: Lee’s Chapel UMC: 2303 Lee’s Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC or, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region: P.O. Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247. The family would like to thank the staff of The Laurels Assisted Living of Highland Creek for the outstanding care they gave Henrietta over the past 8 years. The staff loved her like family and she will be greatly missed. The family also wants to give recognition to the hospice nurses who cared for her so graciously and comforted her as she transitioned from this life to the next.
