Thomas "Bear'e" Edward Combs Blackbear'e, 48, died on December 30, 2013, in a car accident. Bear'e as he liked to be called was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 23, 1965 to Woodrow Wilson and Cornelia Odessa Wooten Scruggs. There will be a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Monticello United Church of Christ in Brown Summit with the Reverend Gary Owens and Reverend Rick Lebaube officiating. The interment will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bear'e was preceded in death by his father and mother, a brother, two daughters and a niece, Rebecca Combs. He is survived by his loving wife, Lavinia M. Combs; 3 sons, Ernest Dermont "Ed" Combs, Zane Thomas Combs, Timothy Andrew Torian; his mother and father-in-law, Ernest R. and Dorothy Jeanette Leonard Combs; sister-in-law, Sabrina C. Soyars (Roger); brother-in-law Lyle E. Combs (Sharon Campbell); nephews, Bryant Edgar Combs, Randall William Soyars; nieces, Ashley I. Combs (Edward Roy); great-nieces, Mercie Martin, Jazmine Combs, Julie Roy, Lilly Roy; great-nephew, Kevin Hazelwood and special friends, Eric Lofin and John Buttry. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Memorials maybe directed to Moss Street Elementary Backpack program in Reidsville, NC .
