David Lawson Mathis
December 16th, 1946 - January 1st, 2023
David Lawson Mathis was born on December 16, 1946. He worked in the transportation industry for over 40 years and was a member of Lexington Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching his son and grandsons the pleasures of this sport. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbur Mathis and Mary Francis Summer Mathis, and son, Jonathan Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Sherron Mathis; son, Steven Mathis; daughter-in-law, Heather Mathis; as well as grandchildren, Lawson, Landon and Anna Kate Mathis. The family wishes to express love and appreciation to his caregivers from First Light. A special thank you to the nurses with Agape Care and to Melissa, NP with SC House Calls for the compassionate medical care that they provided during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lexington Baptist Church, 308 East Main Street Lexington, SC or a charity of one’s choice. A memorial service will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC at 2:30 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023. A private burial will occur at a later date. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at Woodridge Funeral Home.
