Jerry Van Sandlin, 72, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born on June 9, 1940 to John William and Ada Belle Marshall Sandlin in Greensboro, NC. Jerry's funeral service will be Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel with his interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5120 Burlington Road in Greensboro. The Reverend Tom Raven will be officiating. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife, Sharon, who passed away in December 2012 and a brother, Joe. He is survived by his 12 children, Julie Girardin, Scott Sandlin, Jennifer Sandlin Smith, Chris Sandlin, John Sandlin, Deena Owens, Joe Sells, Shawn Scott Sells, Sherry Blankenship, Norman Phillips, Jamey Compton, Jolean Compton; 3 sisters, Jane Sutton, Sandra Hutchins, Mary Brown and there are way to many grandchildren and great grandchildren to count who loved Jerry with all their heart. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 17, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
