James Frye
October 20th, 1930 - January 12th, 2013
James Bradley Frye, 82, died on January 12, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born October 20, 1930 in Greensboro to Bradley Augustus and Thelma Cox Frye. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday January 16 at Rankin Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, with Reverend John Jarman officiating. The interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park with military honors. James graduated from Rankin High School, from Guilford College with honors, and received a Master degree in Government Administration from George Washington University. He served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission after 34 years of government service. James was a member of Revolution Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 386, where he served as chaplain. He was a respected speaker and well known for his eulogies. He was proud of his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a regular pool player with his buddies at the Legion Post and was even 'World Champion' on occasion. James will be missed by his friends and family. James was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived his wife, Polly Harris Frye; his daughter Jamie Frye Dombrowsky and husband Dickie; a sister, Vivian Frye Gurkin and husband Fred; grandsons, Richard Dombrowsky and wife Adrienne, Luke Dombrowsky; 2 great- granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Dombrowsky; nieces, Marcia Jones, Shelia Steele, Wendy McPherson, Anna Harris; nephews, John Harris, Andy Harris, Steffen Brown, Craig Brown, Al Harris, and Wesley Harris. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at the church.
