Jack Winfred Parker, Sr.
December 15th, 1941 - May 12th, 2019
Jack Winfred Parker, Sr., 77, of Chapin, South Carolina passed away May 12, 2019. He was born on December 15, 1941 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late John William Parker, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Parker Wilson. Jack honorably served in the US Marine Corps from 1959-1963. He was a Master Mason, Acacia Lodge #94 and a Shriner at Jamil Shrine Temple. Jack loved life and lived it to the fullest and was most happy when he was at the baseball park enjoying a game, especially when his grandchildren are involved. He coached and mentored many young baseball players for many years who still stay in touch today. He was surrounded by so many dear friends and his presence will surely be missed. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Parker; sons, Jack Parker, Jr. (Colleen) and Brett Parker; daughter, Donna Chandler; sister, Angie Parker; and brother, Greg Parker. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Corey, Kayla, Brooke, Ivy, Zack, Sadie and Ava. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Whiting; and granddaughter, Parker Steppe. Pallbearers are Robert Bowers, Joe Cromer, J.C. Ellisor, Jimmy Helms, Tommy Marshall and Mabry Williams. The family will receive friends at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063 on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. A funeral service will follow at 12:00PM. Reverend Tim Phillips will be officiating. Interment will be in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212, following the Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
