Nancy R. Fredrick (nee Ripple), 85, of Wenonah, NJ passed away peacefully on August 8, 2019. She was holding her daughter, Cindy’s hand when she passed. Legacy Nancy was a loving wife, devoted mother and proud nanny. She was a kind woman, always doing for others. She was always making a meal for someone, visiting an elderly neighbor, or taking the time to write a letter or send a card. She never embraced email, preferring to write notes by hand. Many remarked what a treat it was to receive something in the mail from Nancy. She faithfully remembered and acknowledged events large and small in the lives of her family and friends. She was a steady presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was there to lift them up when there were challenges and cheer them on when there was something to celebrate. She was a caretaker when her grandchildren were young, and she enjoyed every moment of those years. The bonds formed were strong and have been a blessing for all. Nancy loved attending Broadway plays, and the family has many happy memories of these outings. She loved family vacations, both for the destination and the “family time” it allowed. She truly was happiest when everyone was home and sitting around the table sharing a meal. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her favorite recipes with others. Nancy was born and raised in Maryland and although she lived in New Jersey for over 60 years, she still considered Maryland home. She made sure her family truly knew how to appreciate hard crabs, and she started a tradition of rolling down all the windows in the car each time the family crossed the state line into Maryland so that she could breath in deeply and exclaim “Smell that Maryland air!” The tradition continues. She graduated from Western Maryland College and after teaching in Maryland, moved to Wenonah with her husband. She was an avid volunteer, having been past treasurer and creator of “Story Hour” for the Wenonah Public Library, a member of the Wenonah Woman’s club, Needlework Guild and the AAUW, and she held several offices for the Underwood Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She and Ed were active members of the Wenonah United Methodist Church. Nancy spent her final years at Collingswood Manor where she was cared for with love and respect. Family Predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Edward Fredrick; devoted mother of Cynthia (William) Norris MD and Edward Fredrick, Jr.; cherished nanny of Christina, William, Jr. and Bryan Norris; loving aunt of Ruth Louise Higbee, Sue Regina, Nadine Albert, Robert Fredrick and Alice Poholsky. Nancy is predeceased by her sister, Jean Humphries. Farewell Ceremony Friends and family are invited to her visitation on Friday, August 16th from 1:30PM to 3:00PM in the McGuinness, 34 Hunter St. Woodbury, NJ. Funeral Service at 3:00PM. Interment will follow at Wenonah Cemetery, Mantua, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to “United Methodist Communities Foundation” and sent to the following address - UMC-Collingswood, 460 Haddon Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. share the memories … share love … ShareLife® at www.mcgfuneral.com

We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
