Helen P. Mulligan
October 16th, 1922 - January 15th, 2020
Helen Pauline Mulligan (nee Gazdick), 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Legacy Helen’s life began in the coal regions of Pennsylvania, where she grew up with her four sisters and her brother. After John “Flash” Mulligan swept her off her feet, marrying in 1943, she relocated over 60 years ago to southern New Jersey. Helen’s love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. With her husband John, she created an inviting and warm family home for her children and all of their friends, all were welcome. The neighborhood children knew that the door was always open and a glass of her homemade iced tea awaited. There was no greater joy for “Mom Mom” as she was affectionately called, then to enjoy the love and companionship of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether they were by the pool, on her porch or in her garden, wherever the family gathered is where she wanted to be. A visit to Mom Mom’s was sure to include a sweet indulgence, her secret stash of peanut butter eggs, Dove chocolates and ribbon candy were only a few of the magical delights that made her a special Mom Mom. She had an innate ability to make those around her feel as though they were the most important person in her world. She smiled every day and lived her life with love, grace and kindness. Family Helen is the beloved wife of 57 years to the late John H. Mulligan. Devoted mother of Maureen M. Bower of West Deptford, NJ and Edward J. Mulligan (Denise DiSimone) of West Deptford, NJ. Treasured Mom Mom of Kevin Bower of Runnemede, NJ; Mark Bower (Kristy) of Kunkletown, PA; Michele Bower of West Deptford, NJ; Daniel Mulligan of Philadelphia, PA; Patrick Mulligan of Athlone, Ireland and Liam Mulligan of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Great grandchildren, Easton Bower, Lawson Bower and Warren Bower. Daughter of the late Pauline and John Gazdick. Dear sister of the late Mary Hadneggi, the late Ann Gazdick, the late John Gazdick, Margaret Kattner and Ella Gruber. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, family and friends. McGuinness Funeral Homes - Woodbury
We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
