William E. Brewer, 88, of West Columbia husband of the late Alice Brewer, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Alabama to the late Benjamin Brewer and Donna Lucline Newman Brewer. Bill retired from Otis Elevator Company in 1987 after 35 years as Otis Elevator Constructor in and around South and North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Bill served in the Army during the Korea War with the 31st Division. He was a member of Springdale Baptist Church, a member of the Springdale Masonic Lodge 412 and the Jamil Temple as an Honorary member of the Local Union 135 I.U.E.C. Bill is survived by one son, Robert E. Brewer; one daughter, Mary Page; three granddaughters, Becky, Ginny and Robyn Spires. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday August 1, 2020 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 5:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of South Carolina, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
