Brenda Gunter Netherton, 73, of Lexington, passed on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the eldest daughter of the late Luther Burdell and Mary Ellen Young Gunter. She was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Mrs. Netherton retired from the Tucker Center in Columbia, SC, where she was a geriatric nurse for 25 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who instilled the love of family to everyone she met. She was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in West Columbia, SC. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher James Netherton, Sr. (Amy Shannon Netherton) of Lexington; sister, Leonina Gallagher; brother, Marion Gunter; nephew, Brandon Gunter; grandchildren, Christopher James Netherton, Jr., Caitlyn (Netherton) Parrish, and Timothy Shannon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Bruce Netherton. A private Graveside Service will be held at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials, please do so to The American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Cir #100, Columbia, SC 29210. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Netherton Family.
