Robert William Peak, Sr., 81, of West Columbia passed away on January 11, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center. Born July 17, 1939 in Winnsboro, SC, he was the son of the late Theron Samuel and Laura Mae Black Peak. He was a graduate of Spartanburg Junior College and the University of South Carolina. After completing his education and marrying the love of his life, he briefly served in the Army National Guard. Born in a mill village to parents that worked in a textile mill, he spent most of his life working in textiles. He was employed by Oxford Industries for over 40 years. He retired as the Vice President of Operations for their Columbia and Gaffney plants. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful way of making people laugh by telling stories, jokes or playing pranks. He enjoyed reading, golfing and spending time at the beach. He was an active member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. He also served on the Board of Trustees for Epworth Children’s Home. Surviving are his son, Bob Peak, Jr. (Mary) of Irmo; daughter, Shannon Peak Fiene (Richard) of Echo, MN; eight grandchildren, Emily (Roth) Mathews, Sarah, Ryan and Connor Peak, and Dakota (Paige), Maverick (Dani), Tucker and Teegan Fiene; three great grandchildren, Preston, Lennon and Vera; and a sister-in-law Becky Nelson, of Lexington, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Nelson Peak and a brother, Theron Samuel “Pete” Peak. A private graveside service will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Thom Jones officiating, with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Epworth Children’s Home. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Peak family.
