Luther "Tommy" Thomas Smith, Sr.

Pelion – Luther Thomas Smith, Sr. (Tommy) passed away Monday, January 18, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1948, in Aiken, SC to the late Carlton B. and Velma Lois Smith. Tommy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Mae Smith (Cissy), daughter, Tonya Renee Hooker (Joe), sons, Tommy Smith, Jr. (Michelle) and Timothy Smith; brother, Howard Smith (Shirley), Carl Smith (Lisa); and sister, Patricia Gayle O’neale (John). Tommy was a loving grandfather (Grumpy) to 7 grandchildren, Joe Dan Hooker (Kristin), Jesse Dalton Hooker, Dalton Thomas Smith, McKenna Jade Smith, Colton Jacob Smith, Ezekiel Kage Smith, Caleb Everett Smith and 2 great grandchildren, Tripp Hooker III and Marina Mae Hooker. In addition to being a loving Brother-in-law to Rhonda, Susie, Cindy, Shirley, and Lisa. He was a beloved Uncle to his many nieces and nephews and his advice and love will greatly be missed. Tommy was a Navy Veteran that served in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he was a carpenter until he began working in the boat manufacturing business in 1983. He retired from Galaxy Boats in 1990. He then opened his own business, T&W Boat Repair until his full retirement in 1998. Tommy will be cremated as per his wishes and all services will be handled by Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Due to the current Pandemic, there will be no in person services. We ask that you send love, prayers and support to the family and stay safe.
