William Frank Smith
February 2nd, 1929 - August 15th, 2021
William F. Smith, 92, of West Columbia, SC, passed away on August 15, 2021. He was born on February 2, 1929 in Chapel Hill, NC, the son of the late Arlindo L. Smith and Laura Hancock. On August 18, 1972, he married Irene R. Hantke in Fuerth, Germany. He served his country in the US Army for 25 years, including a tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Irene; his sister, Susie Burroughs; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ronnie Boswell; his son, Keith Smith; daughters, Jeanette McNew and Martina Smith. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
