Marion Edwin "Bill" Hill

Marion Edwin “Bill” Hill passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born June 29, 1941 in Columbia, SC to the late Marion C. and Edna C. Hill. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Davis Hill. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda H. Hill; son, Marion Steven Hill (Dana); daughter, Kelly H. Fail (Herbie); sister, Edna Faye “Susie” Hill; sister-in-law, Nancy Collins; brother-in-law, Roger Hill (Barbara); six grandchildren: Grant (Darienne), Jordan, Rachel, Jaclyn, Elise, Jessica: and one great-granddaughter on the way, Avery Elizabeth. Bill was a member at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. He was active in Sunday School and the Lutheran Men in Mission group, served on many committees, was President of Church Council and served many terms on Church Council. He was a US Navy veteran and worked 28 years at SCANA before retiring in 1993. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Bill loved playing golf and looked forward each summer to hosting a family beach vacation with his children and grandchildren. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling the country, especially the American Southwest, with his wife and friends and playing golf along the way. He will be remembered for his love for his family, especially his wife Linda, his generosity to others, his passion for the game of golf, never meeting a stranger and making life more enjoyable for everyone he was around. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 5:00pm at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1500 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, SC. Visitation will be prior to the memorial service from 4:00-5:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.
