Catherine R. (nee Varley) Cobb, “Cassie”, a resident of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Legacy Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the 3rd child of George and Freda Varley. Cass was raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia where she graduated 1st in her class at Kensington High School for Girls. After graduation, she immediately went to work as an aide for Congressman William Green, Jr. During this time, she spent a week taking dictation and helping Eleanor Roosevelt prepare multiple speeches to be delivered in Philadelphia. After getting married, she moved to Gloucester County and has been a resident of West Deptford for 46 years. At that point, Cass launched a 31 year career at Mobil Oil, retiring as the Executive Secretary to the Director of Research. She was an avid reader averaging 2-3 novels a week. Cassie will forever be known as a true lady as her makeup, hair and clothes were always pristine. Family Beloved wife of 50 years to the late Robert; devoted mother of Robert Cobb and John (Cindy) Cobb; loving grandmom of Bobby, Tyler, Jake and Brady; Cass is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 26 grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her daughter, Valerie Leigh, her sisters Evelyn and Marie and her brother George. Farewell Ceremony Relatives and friends are invited to attend Cassie’s viewing on Wednesday evening, November 10, 2021, 6:30 – 9:00 PM and Thursday morning, 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, 62 Delaware Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
