Adele Lancaster Rodgers
July 30th, 1931 - December 14th, 2021
Adele Lancaster Rodgers, 90, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, died on December 14, 2021. She was born to Heyward Lancaster and Vermelle Gibbons on July 30, 1931 in Columbia, SC. After graduating from Dreher High School, she went on to obtain a Nursing Degree from Columbia Hospital. She was a retired nurse, as well as had retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she worked for 22 years. Adele was a long-time member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, member of the Scatter Cheer Class, Bernhardt Circle, and many other groups. She was also an avid league bowler with “Miss Ellie’s Bowling League”. Adele was a devoted and loving wife to C.B. Rodgers, Jr. until his death in 1993. Together they had 4 children: Chris Rodgers, Mike Rodgers (GiGi), Kathy Risinger (Ray), and Suzanne Strickland (Eddie). In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was a proud grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 8. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brother, Ralph “Buddy” Lancaster. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Family will greet friends in the Fellowship Hall from 1:00-2:00pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Bishop Kevin L. Strickland of the Southeastern Synod ELCA (Adele’s grandson) and the Reverend Wade Roof of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
