Dorothy E. Mundy (nee Simmerman), 98, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. Legacy Born and raised in Gloucester City, New Jersey, Dorothy met the love of her life, Leroy and moved to Washington DC area. She moved to Maryland and was their until 2017 when she moved back to New Jersey and was a very active and loveable resident of Woodbury Mews. Prior to retiring, Dorothy was a long distance telephone operator for Bell Telephone and worked her way up to a manager. She was a member of the Pioneers Club at Ma Bell and the Red Hat Society. A kind, sweet and gentle lady, Dorothy was always dressed to the nines. Her outfits were all coordinated and she wore makeup until her last few days. She would show her talents in works of knitting, crocheting and needlework which she shared with her loved ones. Dorothy proudly tended to her home and her flower gardens and was well known for her infamous pecan cookies. In her spare time, she loved crossword puzzles, reading, and trying her luck with the scratch off lottery tickets. Her sweet and funny ways were shared and enjoyed with young children who she loved to play with. Many memories where made as they traveled to many military reunion trips and places such as Hawaii, Europe, Florida and Vermont. Lately, a shopping trip would not be complete unless a silver alert was announced in the store and even these trips would bring smiles and laughs. Dorothy will be truly missed.
