Betty Jean Hutto
November 15th, 1933 - April 25th, 2022
Betty Jean Hutto, age 88, of Cayce, S.C., peacefully passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Lexington Community Hospice House, Lexington, SC. Born in Bishopville, on November 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Henry David Strother and Floy Jane Watkins Strother. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cayce, SC (now Mill City Church of Cayce), for more than 55 years. Betty was married to Charles Anderson Hutto for 57 years, until his passing in 2003. She was a homemaker and raised 4 daughters. She was active in her church, having served as an Acteens leader, Discipleship Training Director, Church Hostess and Choir member. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir, always beside her dear friend and “sister”, Louise Wise. Betty enjoyed traveling, both with family and on bus trips with the Senior group from church; spending time at the beach; and sights in nature, especially birds at the feeder. Most of all, she enjoyed and treasured every moment spent with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She was a faithful follower of Christ. Her daughters “rise and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31: 28a) Betty is survived by 3 daughters: Ann Hydrick (Rick), of Cayce; Edie Waring (Tom), and Vicki Langford, of West Columbia; seven grandchildren: Patricia Hydrick, Lisa Charles, of West Columbia; Justin Waring (Jennifer), Brandon Waring (Brittany) of Lexington, Ryan Waring (Beth), of Greenville; Jonathan Mungo, of Chicago, Ill., and Cooper Langford, of West Columbia; 5 great-grandchildren: Meira Charles, of West Columbia; Jackson Waring, Lucy Waring, Logan Waring and Brenn Waring, of Lexington. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Hutto; daughter, Gail Mungo; sister, Peggy Jenkins; son-in-law, Christopher Langford and her parents. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th Street, Cayce, SC, on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive guests prior to the service, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the South Carolina Alzheimer’s Association.
