John Forte, age 80. My beloved brother, John, left this earth on July 14, at the Inspira Hospital in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, after a short illness. John was born on May 6, 1943, in Camden, New Jersey, to Giacomina (“Jennie”) Forte (nee Tonelli) and John Forte. John was a kind, gentle soul who was a friend to everyone he met. He was a spiritual person, who read the Bible daily. John will be missed by many of the residents at Homestead at Harmony in Gibbstown, New Jersey, where he lived for the past several years. When John was fourteen years old, he received a guitar as a gift, and he taught himself to play the guitar by listening to the radio. Soon, John could play along to all the popular songs of the day. Eventually, John’s tastes moved from popular music to classical music, and his favorite musician was Andrés Segovia, the famous classical guitarist. John could rival any professional guitarist; he was that gifted. John was loved, and he will be greatly missed by his family. John is survived by his sister, Madeline Breeding, of Bear, Delaware; his nieces, Devera Scott (Robert) of Bear, Delaware, and Christine Bowie (Edward) of Aiken, South Carolina; and his nephew, Jeffrey Breeding of Newark, Delaware. In addition, John is survived by five great-nieces and great-nephews, Alexander, Alivia, and Julia Scott, and Emma and Andrew Bowie. John is also survived by his best friend, Joseph Bonaventura. Visitation will be held at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, New Jersey on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 AM. John will be buried at Our Lady of Victories Cemetery, Landisville, New Jersey, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother, Jennie Forte. Graveside service will be private. We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
