Joseph "Zipper" Levon Nelson

Joseph Levon "Zipper" Nelson, 75, of Lexington passed away on March 25, 2023. He was born on October 10, 1947 in Fairfield County, South Carolina to the late Grover Nelson and Gynita McSwain Nelson. Zipper was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved cruising. He was a retired truck driver for over 47 years. He was a Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. Zipper is survived by his son, Joey Nelson (Jennifer); daughter, Tammie Crawford; and granddaughters, Kristen Gainey and Katherine Shindledecker. He is also survived by his sister, Eva Morris; brother, Ronnie Nelson; nephew-son, Allan Cook (Julie) and his children, Chad and Paige. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Nelson; and his son, Jody Nelson. There will be a service held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Thompson Funeral Lexington with burial to follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until time of the service. Memorials may be made to your favorite Disabled Veterans Association.
