Mary Jo Vaughn Taylor passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 14, 2023, with her children present at Lexington Community Hospice House in Lexington, South Carolina. She was born September 9, 1933, in Fayette County, Alabama, to Jesse and Matilda Vaughn. She was married to Ivy Paul Taylor. Mary Jo was predeceased by her husband, her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and her great-granddaughter, Abigail Taylor Long. Mary Jo is survived by her son, Douglas Taylor; daughter, Carolyn (Randy) Cook; grandson, Jeffrey (Michelle) Cook; and great-granddaughter, Emily (Sean) Calhoun. A memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington, on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Don Turner is officiating. Funeral services at Crestview Memorial Gardens, Adamsville, Alabama, will follow at a later date. 9/9/33 – 9/14/23: The dash between the dates included a long life of much hard work and very much love and joy.
