Charles A. Bertrand, MD Charles A. Bertrand, MD, 92, of Hilton Head Island passed away peacefully at his home Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 6, 1925 to Catharine Magdalene McKenna and Charles A. Bertrand. Dr. Bertrand attended Fordham University, Long Island School of Medicine and trained as a Fellow at Johns Hopkins. He practiced cardiology in Manhattan and Westchester County, New York and was well published in the field of cardiology. He and his wife Maria resided in Westchester County until they moved to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1995. He is survived by his wife Maria, daughter Mary Ellen and son-in-law John Pilkington of Rye, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 25 at 9:30 AM at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. islandfuneralhome.com.
