Julia Ahearn Walsh Julia Ahearn Walsh of Hilton Head Island, SC died September 23, 2017. Mrs. Walsh lived in Hilton Head Plantation since 1989, where she had retired with her husband, the late Richard H. Walsh. Julie was born in Washington, D.C. on June 1, 1927. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Holy Cross High School in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1949. She married Richard Walsh in 1951. They raised five sons in Adelphi, Maryland, outside Washington. She is survived by her five sons and their wives, a sister and best friend, Patricia Berger of Hilton Head Plantation, fifteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Vincent P. Ahearn, Sr. and Mary Belle Geary Ahearn, and a brother, Vincent P. Ahearn, Jr. Julie loved her family and her Irish heritage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 30 at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island. She will be inurned in the St. Francis Columbarium after the funeral. A reception for family and friends will take place at the adjoining St. Francis Family Center after the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Francis Thrift Shop, 6 Southwood Park Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. The Island Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
