JAMES CARROLL MULHOLLAND James Carroll Mulholland, 95, of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away on November 11, 2018 at the Preston Health Center, Hilton Head Island, SC. Jim was born January 6, 1923 in Lubec, ME to Joseph A. and Mary Jane (Redman) Mulholland. He was one of 12 children. He married Valorie Avery (1926-1993) on June 7, 1953. For 37 years, Jim worked at the General Electric Aircraft Engines Plant in Lynn, MA. He served in the Army during WWII in the European Theatre. Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Lentz Mulholland, his son, Robert W. Mulholland (Monica Hayes), his granddaughters Debrah Cargill (Chris) and Jill Mulholland, as well as nieces Mary Jane Mulholland, Sue Mulholland, and Nicole Cook. A memorial service on Friday November 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. will be conducted by the Very Rev. Dr. Charles E. Owens, III at the historic Church of the Cross in Bluffton, SC. Interment will follow the service in the church’s columbarium overlooking the May River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lubec Memorial Library, 55 Water St., Lubec, ME 04652. Jim will be remembered for his devotion to family, his smiling disposition, and his keen sense of right and wrong.
