Peggy King Daugherty
October 15th, 1927 - September 9th, 2022
Peggy King Daugherty, of Hilton Head Island, passed away on September 9, 2022, at age 94. Peggy was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, in 1927 and graduated from Mount Mercy College, now Carlow University, in Pittsburgh in 1949. She then enjoyed a rewarding career as a dietitian in the food service industry. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Sam P. Daugherty, in 2002. She is survived by her niece, Kelly Leslie (Scott) of Upland, California; nephew James King (Tracey) of Hilton Head Island; and stepson Greg Daugherty (Sheila) of Mamaroneck, New York; and their families. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a leader of the Rosary for Life. Peggy’s other passions included volunteering, gardening, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. She will be forever missed by her family and the many friends she loved spending time with. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, September 19, at The Island Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, at Holy Family Catholic Church, followed by interment at Beaufort National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deep Well Project in Hilton Head or a charity of your choosing.
