Robert "Bob" Hand

Robert “Bob” Hand, 84, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on March 2nd, 2023. Born on September 21, 1938 to Mary and Raymond Hand in the Bronx, New York City, Bob raised his family in Huntington, NY and Mahwah, NJ before retiring to Hilton Head after a career in sales. An avid golfer, lover of Irish music, diehard New York Giants fan, and devoted family man, Bob will be best remembered as Papa by his loved ones. A life-long Catholic, Bob was an active member of multiple parishes throughout his life. Most recently, he served as a lector and a member of the parish council at St. Francis by the Sea in Hilton Head. Bob also celebrated his faith by participating in a Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) men’s group that helped him further discover and deepen his relationship with God. Bob is survived by Brenda, his wife of 60 years; his three daughters Mary Ellen, Deborah, and Cynthia; their husbands Mark, Paul, and Michael; and his 10 grandchildren, Connor, Andrew, Sean, Peter, Emily, Micaela Mae, Timothy, Molly, Erin, and Rowan. A public visitation will be held at The Island Funeral home located at 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head, SC from 4-7 PM on Thursday, 3/9. A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, 3/10 at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church located at 45 Beach City Rd, Hilton Head, SC followed by a luncheon in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Hospice Care of the Low Country.
