Christine Rahn Erdman, 76, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina passed away unexpectedly on December 27th. She had gracefully battled pulmonary fibrosis for several years. Christine was born on March 18, 1947, to Fred and Alice Rahn in Deerfield, Illinois. Christine had fond memories of her childhood and she made lifelong friends wherever she went. After graduating from high school, she attended Drake University for a semester and eventually graduated from the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. After graduation, Christine moved to New York City to follow in her father's footsteps and began working in the finance industry. While working at Smith Barney on the Syndicate Desk, she went to NYU at night for her MBA. Following that, she moved to London where she joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust's International Bond Trading Desk. Christine frequently traveled for work to the Middle East and traveled the world for pleasure whenever she could. After moving back to New York City, Christine pursued her love of cooking attending Peter Kump's Cooking School which included an apprenticeship at the acclaimed Chanterelle Restaurant. For a short while she worked with a fellow graduate on their start up, "Your Turn to Cook" which offers personalized in-home cooking classes. Once Christine left New York for Hilton Head, she never looked back. She loved her life and socialized with countless dear friends. In 2012, Christine met David through mutual friends. Christine and David married on August 2, 2014. They traveled often together throughout Europe, to Oman, where David's daughter, Clauss, and her family live, to Delaware where David's son, Keith, and his family live and all over the US and Canada in support of grandson, Griffin, in hockey, as well as to granddaughter Molly's college graduation. Christine and David also enjoyed extended visits with Clauss and her husband and granddaughters Zoe and Zara when they visited Hilton Head each summer. Christine enjoyed cooking and was a superb chef. She enjoyed her investment club. She loved watching football and Griffin's ice hockey games with David. She was happiest entertaining close friends and family at home. Christine was a cherished member of our family and her spirit and her love of life will be greatly missed. Christine was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Alice Rahn and her brother, Rick. She is survived by her beloved husband, David; her stepdaughter, Clauss and her husband, Sohail; her stepson, Keith, and his wife Amy; and her grandchildren, Zoe, Zara, Molly, and Griffin. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sea Pines Country Club on January 10, 2024 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to of the University of Iowa Foundation for the Christine Rahn Erdman Organ Excellence Fund which was established in honor of Christine’s brother, Rick, an accomplished musician, who had been a graduate organ student there at the time of his death.
