Kathleen "Katie" Fishel McCullough

Kathleen “Katie” Fishel McCullough, age 83, of Hilton Head, SC, passed away on March 22, 2024, with her children by her side. She was born on February 17, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY. Katie was a force of nature, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was married to Bill for 49 years and created 15 beautiful homes for her family. Diving into each new place, she embraced the community, set up great lives for her children and built lifelong friendships. Never afraid to give her opinion, Katie was a fierce advocate for things that mattered to her, most of all her family. She loved to travel the world with Bill though equally loved raising her family in Rye, enjoying the ocean in Cape Cod, golfing in Scottsdale, and making wonderful friendships in Hilton Head. A proud mother and grandmother, her favorite moments were spent with family and friends. Over the years, she was an avid gardener, reader, tennis player, golfer, volunteer but mostly she loved gathering people to laugh, tell stories and enjoy each other’s company. She is survived by her children Kerry McCullough Brown (Doug Brown), Billy McCullough (Phebe Bell), Kristy McCullough Dassatti (Brent Dassatti); sister Penelope Fishel McDermott Carr; and grandchildren Andrew, Eliza, Jennifer, Peter, Zoey, Matthew, and Luke. Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Katie's life will be held on Thursday, March 28,2024, at The Cypress at 11 am. In addition, this summer the family will hold a gathering and Funeral Mass on Cape Cod with more information to come.
