He had a vivacious love for adventure and embraced opportunity at every turn. Known as “Sneaky Steve” in his kickball league, he was always ready to get outside and get active. He loved live music, dancing, and singing. He was never afraid to try something new and inspired everyone around him to live and love freely. A man of strong faith, Stephen believed we should not take our time here too seriously. One of his many favorite sayings was “God is Enough.” He was the kind of man who wore his flip-flops, t-shirt, and a smile everywhere he went. He never met a stranger (human or animal), always had a joke for you and strived to make everyone around him smile. He loved his daughter, grandson, and family wholesomely, spending time with them and his best neighborhood pal, little Michael, every chance he had. He made (and left behind) impressionable memories with his family and friends: snapping pictures and recording videos along the way. He was the kind of man who stopped the truck to pick flowers for his little girl. Stephen built his company, Peacock Renovations, on the same principles he lived his life by awakening and self-expression. He truly had a passion for making others’ dreams come true through his carpentry. However, he was a jack of all trades. If he did not know how to accomplish something, he would either learn it, or find someone who did. He was a diamond in the rough who believed in second chances and showed that by employing people that also deserved them. Stephen gave freely the gifts God had blessed him with, donating endless time, love, and financial assistance to help those in need. He offered a leg up to anyone seeking to strengthen their relationship with a higher power. He believed every man and woman deserved forgiveness and treated every person he encountered with God-like grace. Stephen fully believed in the restoration of ones’ spirit, giving mentorship to hundreds of men and women. He took the message of God’s healing love and grace into his everyday life and went the extra mile to volunteer at correctional facilities across Chatham County, helping incarcerated men rebuild healthy lives. He was a volunteer for years at several facilities, but he particularly loved to visit Ms. Wanda Callaway at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center and share his contagious smile, love, and compassion. He was a leader overall throughout the recovery community. Some called him a “cowboy,” because he was always riding around, he had to stay on the go. There was nothing this man would not do for his fellows. When Stephen received a call for help, he dropped what he was doing and showed up, most likely with a snack (or smoke) in hand for you. He was the kind of friend a friend would like to have. Stephen was truly a one of a kind of father, son, brother, friend, and companion. His light will continue to shine through each of us as we “power through the pain” and “do the right thing - even when no one is looking.” John 14:19 Because I live, you also will live. #stephenseanstrong In lieu of flowers please get out in your community, spend time, make donations, and pay it forward where you see fit.
