Joseph Rochefort

Joseph (Joe) Rochefort, age 73, passed away on August 30th in Beaufort, SC. He was born in Savannah, GA on January 21, 1950 to Oscar and Mary Rochefort. After graduating from Savannah High in 1968, Joe earned a Bachelor’s degree from Spring Hill College and a Master’s Degree in English from Marquette University before returning to Savannah, GA. Joe was known for his wit and outgoing personality. He loved to cook and was forever trying to learn a new kitchen gadget or perfect a recipe. He enjoyed cultural events in Savannah such as attending a play at Savannah Theater or checking out any outdoor festival. He especially enjoyed the time he spent and the friendships he made on Tybee Island. He is survived by his three daughters, Libby Gillins (Greg) of Charleston, Stephanie Rogers (Chadd) of Atlanta and Katie Rochefort of Charlotte; sisters Kathy Ledlie, Rosemary Bailey and Marie Downing; brothers Tommy Rochefort, Michael Rochefort, Conrad Rochefort and Richard Rochefort; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be a private gathering with only close family members present.
