Richard Paul Hedges, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 7. He was born on July 23, 1943 in Lancaster, Ohio and grew up in Amanda, Ohio. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Smith and Vaughn Hedges, and his sister, Carol Ann Bussart. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Hedges, his son Kristin Hedges and daughter-in-law Brandi Whetstone, both of Columbus, Ohio. He also is survived by his niece, Michelle Jones of Columbus, and his grandniece, Cassie Jones of Bethesda, Maryland, along with his wife’s large extended family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at Simplicity Lowcountry Funeral Home on Treeland Drive in Ladson. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm. A memorial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Smyrna United Method Church Helping Hands, St. Jude Research Hospital, or Habitat for Humanity.
