Charles Theodore Harvey, 78, of Summerville, S.C., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Donna Gail Harvey, his parents William Horace Harvey Sr. and Helen Marguerite Harvey of Summerville, S.C., and his brother Robert Quitman Harvey Sr. of Summerville, S.C. He is survived by his brothers, William Horace Harvey Jr. and his wife Brenda of Summerville, S.C., Joseph Michael Harvey and his wife Joan of Lebanon, S.C., and his sister-in-law Sylvia Harvey of Summerville, S.C.; sons Charles T. Harvey Jr. and his wife Marla J. of Lebanon, S.C., Thomas G. Harvey and his wife Lori Jo of Summerville, S.C., and Timothy J. Harvey Sr. of Lebanon, S.C.; daughters Dawn Lewis of Holiday, Fla., and Kelli Fitch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; grandchildren Charles T. Harvey III of Lebanon, S.C., Timothy J. Harvey Jr. (USAF) of Sumter, S.C., Tanner Sloan Harvey of Ridgeville, S.C., Julian Fitch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Amanda K. Harvey of Summerville, S.C., Ashlyn K. Harvey of Summerville, S.C., Barrett Fitch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Sierra D. Simmons of Charleston, S.C. and Shane B. Simmons of Summerville, S.C . Mr. Harvey was born on May 30, 1943, at the Berkeley County Hospital in Moncks Corner, S.C. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Harvey served in the 497th Engineering Company of the U.S. Army from June 1966-July 1970. He was stationed near Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) in 1965 and 1966. His military awards include the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Overseas Service Bar. Mr. Harvey’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, attending auto racing events/car shows and working with auto mechanics. He enjoyed all types of travel, from ocean cruises to air travel. He has been a member of New Hope United Methodist Church since 1954. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Wassamassaw Baptist Church, 704 Wassamassaw Lane, Moncks Corner, S.C. A family visitation will precede the service at noon. A celebration of life will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Cancer Society or The Berkeley County Animal Shelter.
