Raymond Louis "Ray" deVries, 74, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on October 4, 2023. He was born on April 9, 1949, in Baltimore, MD. Ray was a retired US Navy veteran, serving his country with honor and dedication. Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a servant's heart and was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret deVries, his son Jonathan deVries (Julie), his daughters Laura deVries and Kelly Osorio (Oliver), and his beloved eight grandchildren, Toby (Maddie) and Taylor deVries, Abi, Leyni, Oliver, Florencia, Jack, and Maddie Osorio. He is also survived by his brother, Robert 'Bob' deVries. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Orven deVries. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Riverbluff Church, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Contributions in Ray's memory can be made to Riverbluff Church. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Simplicity Funeral Home in Ladson, SC. Raymond Louis deVries will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
