Sharon Guinn Swann

SHARON GUINN SWANN Sharon Guinn Swann, 71, of Beaufort, SC and Walland, TN died August 24 in Beaufort. Born in Elizabethton, TN she was the daughter of the late Lester Matthew and Helma Koch Guinn. Sharon was a 1968 graduate of Elizabethton High School and earned her BS in Elementary Education in 1972 from East Tennessee State University and an MS in Elementary Education in 1986, also from East Tennessee. She was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and worked in the Elizabethton and Knox County school systems. She also substituted for the Blount County school system. Sharon took great pride in being a teacher and loved her school children as her own. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Seymour, TN. Sharon is survived by her husband of 44 years, Albert Henry Swann; her children; Heather Fetzer Midyette, Katherine Hemen, Bill (Jerilyn) Swann, Steve (Martha) Swann; her grandchildren: Parker, Mariah, and Gavin Midyette; Robin Armstrong, Astrid Hemen, and Josie, Samantha and Mitch Swann; her siblings: Lester Junior Guinn and Pat Guinn and her beloved dog Phoebe. She was preceded in death by Lester Guinn, Helma Guinn and Burl Guinn. A memorial service will be held September 14 at 6:30pm at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Seymour, TN and also September 17 at 11:00am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Elizabethton, TN. A luncheon will follow at the Covered Bridge. The family prefers memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
