Fannie Tucker Quinn, 96, joined the church triumphant, April 26, 2024. Fannie was born to Sigsbee Marmion and Pearl Knight Tucker on February 15, 1928, and grew up on the Lawton plantation where her father managed the dairy. She and her husband Edwin “Eddie” Quinn bought a small piece of farmland on Dills Bluff Road, where they raised their children, boarded horses, and made everyone welcome. They later moved just down the road to Sigsbee Lane, and then to The Village at Summerville Presbyterian Community. Fannie enjoyed gardening and entertaining, and traveling to visit friends and family. She was a lifelong member of James Island Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, was active in Presbyterian Women and served on the Cemetery Committee. Whenever there was work to be done, she and Eddie were there. They delivered Meals on Wheels together as long as they could drive. They were married for 72 years, until his death in 2020. Also greeting Fannie in heaven are three Tucker brothers and their wives: Sigsbee Marmion, Jr. “SM” (Beth), Samuel Elmo “Spike” (Frankie), James Carlisle (Betty), and Quinn in-laws Eulalie Pace (Homer), Mary Cecile and Gerald James (Betty Ann). Surviving Fannie are her two brothers: Bruce Knight (Bonnie) and William Rhett Tucker, three children: Nancy Johnston (John), Marilyn Muckenfuss (Milton) and John Quinn (Andrea), seven grandchildren: Will, Jeremy and Westley Muckenfuss, Laura White, Elizabeth LeGrande, Ann Marie, Ryan and Cameron Quinn. She has five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412. A reception will be held after the service in the church’s social hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to James Island Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
