Gwen Marie Smith DeVaun
Gwen Marie Smith DeVaun May 28, 1933 – January 24, 2018 Gwen Marie Smith DeVaun was born in Fort Mill, SC on May 28, 1933 and was a native of Elberton, Ga. She entered into her Eternal Home on January 24, 2018 at the age of 84 after a long battle with kidney disease. Beloved wife of 64 years to Glenn Daniel DeVaun. Loving mother of Rick DeVaun, Pamela Pound (George), Kari DeVaun (Renee). Daughter of the late Voyle Smith and Ruby Maginnis Smith. Grandmother of Sean Pound (Jolene), Meghan Derenbecker (Brian), Erik DeVaun (April) and Emma DeVaun. Sister to Lois Alexander (Jett), Steve Smith (Jean), the late Cary Smith, Joe Smith (Josie) and James Smith (Lee). She is survived by two great- grandchildren Aiden and Liam Pound and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeVaun resided in the greater Charleston area since 1967. She served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. She enjoyed spending time with her family and tending to her flower gardens. She was an avid reader and loved to play checkers and work puzzles. Relatives and friends are invited to the memorial service celebrating her life at the First Presbyterian Church, 419 W. Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at 11:00am. Visitation at the church beginning at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation in memory of Mrs. DeVaun to be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
