Joyce M. Bailey 78, widow of TSGT. Charles L. Bailey, USAF Retired, passed away after a long illness, on July 7, 2014, surrounded by family and loved ones, in a local hospital. Joyce was born on March 11, 1936, in Greenville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Wade H. Smith and Minnie P. Smith, formerly of Summerville. Joyce is survived by her daughter Barbara Cook, husband Bill, of Hanahan, a step daughter, Phyllis Bailey of St. Louis, MO, three granddaughters, Kimberly Emmrich of Hanahan, Sandy West, husband Mitchell, of Manchester, TN, Heather Vaughn, husband Jesse, of Hanahan, and a grandson, James Williams of Manchester, TN. She also has four great-grandchildren: Karra Newman, of Manchester, TN, Scott Cave of Summerville, and Kylee and Kyra Vaughn of Hanahan. Joyce was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved flowers, animals and working on her crafts. Arrangements will be made by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, Inc., and the family will have a private memorial service at a date to be determined later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Charleston Animal Society.
