Helen Wright

Helen Rivers Wright, 92, of Johns Island, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 21, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 570 Rutledge Ave, Charleston. A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 2915 Ashley Phosphate Rd, North Charleston. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Mrs. Wright was born in Charleston, SC on April 18, 1922 to the late John Rivers and Florence Dawson Rivers. She was employed for many years as a custodian at the College of Charleston and the Citadel. She is survived by her children, Julia (Robert) Bently of Jefferson, GA, James B. (Sharon) Wright of North Charleston, Delores Myers of Johns Island, William Wright of Charleston, and sister-in-law, Gladys Rivers. She also leaves behind many grands, great-grands, and great, great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Buster Wright, daughter, Rebecca Wright, and siblings, Pearl, Julia, Dorothy, James, and William. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, North Charleston.
